The Brewed Monster Movie Club is making a thrilling return in 2025! Mark your calendars for January 24th, because that’s when we’ll gather to watch John Carpenter’s classic horror film, The Thing.

For those who aren’t yet familiar with the chilling tale of The Thing, here’s a brief overview: Set in a remote US research station in Antarctica during the early winter of 1982, the tension begins to rise when a helicopter from the nearby Norwegian research base swoops in, making an urgent attempt to kill a dog that has escaped from their facility. After a dramatic encounter that leads to the destruction of the Norwegian chopper, the members of the US team venture to the Norwegian base, only to find it eerily deserted, with all personnel either dead or missing. However, they do discover the remains of a bizarre creature that the Norwegians had previously burned. As the Americans bring it back to their station, they quickly realize that they are dealing with an alien life form unlike anything they have encountered before. As time passes, it becomes frighteningly clear that this alien entity has the terrifying ability to take over and assimilate with other life forms, including humans, spreading with a nightmarish efficiency akin to a virus. This revelation means that anyone at the base could potentially be inhabited by The Thing, leading to rising fears and escalating tensions among the crew.
